California Aids Ride 7 officially begins on this Sunday, June 4, 2000.  I’ve been training hard (hard enough, I hope) and I’m very excited.  I’m flying Friday night to San Francisco.  I took my bike to the shipping company yesterday.  It will be waiting for me there.  (I have to go now, if I ever want to see my bike again.)

I looked at a regular size California road map and realized what I’m about to do.  I've been training seriously since March.  

The longest training ride I’ve done preparing for this was to Dana Point and back home to Torrance. (About 80 miles the way I did it.)  On the way back with only 10 miles left to go, I decided to go up Palos Verdes Drive South (very hill, and I didn't have to do this to get home)-- just to be sure I’m really ready (or not.)

I made it home.  

I'm as ready as I'll be.  I am very excited.
